Author visits museum

Author and radio producer Harriet Baskas will sign books at the Future of Flight Aviation Center &Boeing Tour.

Meet her from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at 8415 Paine Field Blvd. in Everett.

Baskas is author of “Washington Curiosities” and “Washington Icons.” ”Curiosities” is a guide to more than 200 unusual people, places, things and events in our state. ”Icons” shows 50 photo views of Washington with short essays.

During the book signing, the Future of Flight Store will also offer a wine tasting and selected discounts.

Play for free: Doodlebug Sportz, DBS Paintball, offers a grand opening Saturday with one hour of free play.

Run for charity: Participate in the River &Rail Run, a 5k/10k race planned for Saturday to help support at-risk kids.

Now in its fifth year, the annual event raises money for Cocoon House, a Snohomish County-based organization that serves homeless and struggling young people.

The run starts at 9 a.m. at Haller Park, 1100 West Ave., Arlington.

Registration is from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

The cost is $20, which includes a T-shirt. Kids younger than 14 participate for free with a registered adult. The race is free for people older than 70, and T-shirts are $5.
