50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Fourteen members of the Women’s Relief Corps Social Aid motored to the home of Hazel Cate and laid plans for a sewing bee to sew carpet rags next Wednesday at the home of Bertha Sexton, 3027 Lombard Ave. Members were to take a sack lunch. Plans would be made for the bazaar in November, of which Hazel Cate was general chair.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Reid of East Stanwood were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Relatives and friends were invited to attend the reception in the Wesley Hall in Stanwood. There would be a short program. The couple requested no gifts.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
H&L Sports, downtown and at the Everett Mall, was the football headquarters for Snohomish County. The Nike Shark 3038, with revolutionary tread design that provided fast starts and excellent traction, was $5 off at $27.98.
It happened just about every year in the Evergreen Fair livestock area, and it happened again. A bull calf was born to a 4-H cow of Kathi Strotz of Arlington, a member of the Silvana Lads and Lassies 4-H club. Mama Rosie was doing fine and so was her calf, named Monroe.
