Marysville night at the AquaSox

Marysville residents and their families can get a deal on tickets to the Aug. 21 Everett AquaSox game against the Tri-City Dust Devils.

The AquaSox are offering upper box seats at $9 per seat or $20 per seat including an all-you-can-eat barbecue. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.

To purchase tickets, go to www.aquasox.com/groups and enter the password “Marysville.”

Lower flags Tuesday: Gov. Chris Gregoire said flags at all Washington state agencies should be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, in memory of U.S. Army 1st Lt. Robert Bennedsen of Vashon Island.

Bennedsen died July 18 in Afghanistan of injuries he sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday or first thing Wednesday morning.

Staples taking school items: Donations of school supplies for students in need can be dropped off at Staples stores in Snohomish County through Sept. 18.

All school supplies and $1 donations made at any Staples store will be donated to the Boys &Girls Clubs of Snohomish County.

Supplies can be taken to Staples in Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek and Monroe.

Old Dog Haven competes: Old Dog Haven in Lake Stevens is in an online competition with other animal shelters around the country for a $10,000 award from the All-Star Animal Rescue Site.
