Link: A tour of the country’s best streetball courts

Published 3:14 pm Friday, July 2, 2010

ESPN RISE just kicked off a fun basketball project. Between July 1 and Aug. 26, it will post weekly stories about the best streetball courts in the United States. It’s called the Rucker to Venice Streetball Series.

Here is the series schedule.

July 1: Rucker Park, New York, N.Y.

July 8: The Cage, New York, N.Y.

July 15: Hank Gathers Rec, Philadelphia, Pa.

July 22: The Dome, Baltimore, Md.

July 29: St. Cecilia’s, Detroit, Mich.

Aug. 5: Fosco Park, Chicago, Ill.

Aug. 12: Fonde Rec Center, Houston, Texas

Aug. 19: Mosswood Park, Oakland, Calif.

Aug. 26: Venice Beach, Venice, Calif.

The first installment, about legendary Rucker Park in New York City, is really entertaining (Watch the video, which includes some cool insights about The Rucker’s history.). The courts have attracted an incredible list of NBA and college stars over the years, from Wilt Chamberlain and Julius Erving to Kobe Bryant and John Wall.

The ESPN RISE staff asks readers to let them know if they left out any great streetball courts in their Rucker to Venice Series. I wish they would have included Green Lake in Seattle. How about you? Share your thoughts here.
