MARYSVILLE — A family was displaced Saturday evening when a garage fire damaged their home.

More than two dozen firefighters were summoned to a house in the 5700 block of 52nd Ave. NE about 4:30 p.m., Marysville Fire District Battalion Chief Bob Magee said.

A column of black smoke could be seen rising in the air.

Crews worked quickly and managed to contain the flames mostly to the home’s garage. More than an hour after the fire started, firefighters were dousing a vehicle in the garage that kept flaring up.

The homeowners couldn’t stay at the house because of smoke damage.

An investigator from the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office was called to determine how the fire started.
