Giants won’t be making Hay

A quick word on Everett’s opposition for Wednesday. The Vancouver Giants will be without the services of head coach Don Hay. Hay received a one-game suspension from the league because the Giants were involved in a line brawl Saturday against Prince George. That was Vancouver’s third multiple-fight situation of the season, which must be the point where an automatic suspension kicks in for the coach.
So the man who may be the greatest coach in WHL history will not be behind the bench when the Giants visit Wednesday night. Assistants Chad Scharff and Yogi Svejkovsky will take over for Hay, and we’ll have to see whether that affects the Giants in any way.
