Sketch released of reported attempted abductor in Monroe

MONROE – An 8-year-old boy told police a man followed him home Monday and tried to abduct him.

Detectives are investigating the incident and on Thursday released a sketch of their suspect.

The boy told detectives he got off his school bus and walked to his home about 4:30 p.m. in the 12200 block of 203rd Avenue SE in incorporated Monroe, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

Nobody was home when the boy arrived and at some point the boy said he heard the front door open, Hover said.

The boy told police a man was on the front porch and said “Come here,” and “Do you want to come with me?”

That’s when the boy ran past the man and went to a a nearby relative’s house for help. The boy said the man chased him down the driveway and then got into a truck and left.

Nobody else saw the incident and police haven’t received similar reports, Hover said.

The suspect is described as white, possibly in his 60s or 70s, about 6-feet tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. He had short white or gray hair, a mustache and a scar under his right eye. The boy also said the man had a deep voice, Hover said.

The suspect’s truck is described as a late 70s, early 80s dark red Chevrolet pickup with four tires in the back and some equipment in the bed of the truck.
