Former Meadowdale star O’Neill joins Seattle U. staff

Kristen O’Neill, a graduate of Meadowdale High School, was one of three assistant coaches hired Monday by Seattle University women’s basketball coach Joan Bonvicini. The others were Jamie Angeli and Joy Hollingsworth.
O’Neill is graduate of the University of Washington. She played four seasons for the UW women’s basketball team, then went on to play professionally from 2006-2009. O’Neill spent three seasons in Europe and also had a brief stint with the Seattle Storm of the WNBA.
O’Neill will work with the Redhawks guards and wing players and will assist with scouting and recruiting.
“Her experience as a player both professionally and in college in this area allows us to partner with so many players and coaches in this area,” Bonvicini said in a statement released by the school.
Lacrosse team places first
The Snohomish girl’s high school lacrosse team placed first at the Canadian Friendship Tournament held Aug. 22-23 in Coquitlam, British Columbia. The event drew teams from Canada, England and the United States.
The Snohomish team finished the tourney with a 4-0 record and outscored its opponents 53-20. Meaghan Hess led Snohomish in scoring with 19 goals and eight assists.
Other members of the team included Emily Henderson, Rebeka Price, Amanda Hultz, Taylor Morgan, Stephanie Lamphere, Emily Hale, Sarah Clogston, Megan Weyrauch, Emily Dalrymple, Caris Ristoff, Lauren Francois, Anna Molver, Katarina Rentko, Alyssa Retallick, Hannah Price, Allie Boyd, Chelsea Hultz, Mahea Wong, Jamie Day, Sophia Buttke and Morgan Miller.
The squad also included head coach Craig Hess and assistant coaches Peggy Hess and Brian Hultz.
