Front Porch: Borrow a life jacket

Published 10:44 pm Friday, July 31, 2009

If you see Richelle Risdon in a “PIO 31” vehicle, ask her a favor.

She will have life jackets to loan, thanks to the Monroe Fire Department. Just get a proper fitting, sign out the jacket, and return it to the Monroe fire station after your swim.

Benefit Sunday for pigs: Pigs Peace Sanctuary in Stanwood, a shelter for unwanted potbellied pigs and other farm critters, will benefit from an auction Sunday.

It’s planned for 5 p.m. at a home in Seattle.

There will be an auction, vegetarian dinner and visitors will get to meet a pig named Winston.
