Wheels are rolling on the M’s bandwagon

One down, 161 to go: One game into the baseball season and things are looking pretty rosy from our nosebleed bleacher seat on the Mariner Bandwagon. (That’s us you’re hearing on the slightly flat sousaphone.) Seattle defeated the Minnesota Twins, 6-1.
Projecting out from last night’s results, we’re predicting 162 home runs for Ken Griffey Jr. and a 28-win season for pitching ace Felix Hernandez.

Health-conscious folks might want to eat more soy, says columnist Dr. Elizabeth Smoots (Page D1). Doctors say soy can help lower cholesterol, ward off menopausal hot flashes and strengthen bones — assuming one can choke down the various ersatz meat and dairy substitutes concocted from soybeans.
On a related note, Herald columnist Kristi O’Harran writes about a woman who was determined to win a cooking contest at Everett Community College. Her secret ingredient? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t tempeh.
