A custom two-story situated on a five-acre wooded lot in the heart of Picnic Point north of Edmonds is our featured new home this week.

Located in the Estates at Highland Bay development, the home delivers filtered views of Puget Sound and the Edmonds ferry. Its 4,800 square-feet of living space is augmented by a four-car garage and covered outdoor living area with gas log-burning fireplace.

Vitals include four bedroom suites — all with their own private, full bathroom — and 5.25 bathrooms total.

The main living floor includes a foyer with curved staircase, a den, formal dining room, kitchen, great-room, powder and laundry rooms, and a bonus room with full bathroom nearby.

Upstairs, a skybridge overlooks the foyer and great-room below. The bedroom suites are on the upper level.

Features found throughout the house include hardwoods, slab granite and marble countertops, custom cabinets and built-in bookcases and fireplace surrounds, heated travertine stone flooring, and a soaring 30-foot ceiling in the great-room including a floor-to-ceiling cultured stone fireplace wall.

There are three gas log-burning fireplaces inside the house: in the den, great-room, and main bedroom suite. Other amenities include voluminous vaulted and coffered ceilings trimmed with crown and double crown moldings, and intricate detailing.

Kitchen highlights include a two-tiered center island with curved breakfast bar on one side, and a prep sink and built-in range on the other.

An interior wall delivers additional granite slab counter space with ceramic tile backsplash accents and indirect lighting. Overhead, custom built-in cabinets are enhanced with mesh wire fronts and a large wine rack.

A stainless steel six-burner gas cooktop and two-drawer dishwasher are complemented by an undermount double stainless steel sink. An extra-large, L-shaped walk-in pantry includes a wood organizer system.

In the main bedroom suite, French doors open to a spacious sleep area with corner fireplace that will also warm the adjacent sitting area, which has a view of Puget Sound.

Completing the suite is a spa-like bathroom with travertine flooring and surrounds. Veined marble slab covers the double vanity separated by a sit-down makeup application area. A jetted soaker tub and walk-in shower lined with architectural glass block adds more visual appeal. The shower has a rain shower head complemented by two additional heads — one fixed, the other hand-operated.
