LYNNWOOD — Meadowdale’s 59-41 victory over Sedro-Woolley in the 3A District 1 playoffs doesn’t appear on the surface to have been a difficult game. Those in attendance might tell you another story.
Sedro-Woolley kept it close all through the first half and trailed by just one point at halftime, 22-21.
“I really felt like Sedro-Woolley out worked us in the first half,” Meadowdale coach Troy Parker said.
Sedro-Woolley continued to keep it close through most of the third quarter as well, holding a 30-28 lead late in the period before Meadowdale turned it on.
“Our concentration level and our work ethic at the beginning of the game was not there,” Parker said.
Parker said the game turned when Meadowdale settled down and stopped turning over the ball.
“I really believe the key was the offensive efficiency from the mid-third quarter on,” Parker said.
Parker credited Sedro-Woolley with playing well and hoped his team would be ready for its next game, an 8 p.m. semifinal Thursday against Mt. Vernon at Mt. Vernon High School.
“This is a group that all year long has found a way to win,” Parker said.
He said that his team has stepped up all year when faced with a tough game.
“I have every expectation we are going to continue to do that,” Parker said.
