Celebrations

Lost and Found Community Church, a new church in Lake Stevens, invites the public to its first public service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Cedar Springs Camp, 4820 Highway 92, Lake Stevens.

The church is led by John Hayes, who was associate pastor at the Everett South Church of the Nazarene for the past four years.

Concerts

Stanwood United Methodist Church plays host to violinist Jaime Jorge at 3 p.m. Sunday at 27128 102nd Drive NW, Stanwood, for a concert of classical, sacred and Broadway music.

Jorge was born in Cuba in 1970 and began violin studies at age 5. At age 10, he immigrated with his family to the United States, where he began lessons with violinist Cyrus Forough, who studied with David Oistrakh.

During the past two decades, Jorge has released 15 albums and performed in more than 2,500 concerts in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

The Stanwood Cedarhome Seventh-Day Adventist Church is sponsoring the concert.

Programs and Classes

Grace Lutheran Church offers a More Than Money Matters workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Feb. 17 at 8401 Holly Drive, Everett.

Peter Lee, a financial consultant for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, plans to lead the workshop. Topics include stewardship and values, communicating about money, setting goals, understanding credit and debt, saving money, budgeting and calculating net worth.

Kamiak High School graduate Jack Shrum is a scheduled guest on the Catholic Radio station “Conversations with Father Bob,” which airs from 8 to 9 a.m. today on KKNW (AM 1150).

Shrum is a newly ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Seattle. His home parish is Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Everett.

The Rev. Bob Camuso plans to talk to Shrum about his work with Catholic Relief Services.

The radio program also is broadcast from 7 to 8 a.m. Sundays on KKNW (AM 1150) and from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and from 9 to 10 p.m. Thursdays on Sacred Heart Radio KBLE (AM 1050).

Everett’s First Presbyterian Church will host a book signing with Edwin Coon following the 11 a.m. service Sunday at 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Coon, the church’s former pastor, recently wrote and published “Steeple on the Hill,” a book about the history of First Presbyterian Church in Everett.

The books cost $30.

Mill Creek Christian Women’s Connection offers a Hearts and Dreams luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mill Creek Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive, Mill Creek.

Julie Reynolds of Snoho­mish plans to talk about how to create artwork to honor special relationships. Jerry Goodman plans to provide music.

Guest speaker Cathy Mogus, a freelance writer from British Columbia, is set to discuss “Mending Broken Dreams.”

Edmonds Christian Church offers a contemplative labyrinth worship service at 6 p.m. Sunday at 23010 84th Ave. W., Edmonds.

The service includes music, scripture readings, prayer and time for meditation. There is no requirement to walk the labyrinth.

The Kadampa Meditation Center offers Meditation 101, Keeping a Relaxed and Positive Mind from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Jan. 26 at Anabel’s Framing and Gallery, 2531 Broadway, Everett.

The classes are based on the teachings of Buddha and include guided meditations, teachings and discussions. Refreshments are planned. Drop-ins are welcome. The cost is $10 per class, $5 for students, seniors or people with low incomes.
