Snohomish church holds turkey dinner

St. Michael’s Catholic Church offers its 39th Annual Turkey Dinner on Sunday.

The dinner is planned for noon to 4 p.m. at 1512 Pine Ave. in Snohomish.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and children are served for $5.

Open enrollment for Medicare’s prescription drug program Part D starts Saturday and runs through Dec. 15.

Trained Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisors HelpLine volunteers are available by phone to explain options and to provide information about the program.

Many insurance plans are expected to change.

African outreach group celebrates

Fabric Of Life, a nonprofit foundation that provides skills and micro-financing to help poor women in African countries create businesses, invites folks to a grand opening celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 4 this afternoon at its retail boutique, 523 Main St., Edmonds.

The event features African musicians, drummers and dancers, and book signing with children’s author Kunle Oguneye. The foundation’s boutique offers fabric items, jewelry and other products created by graduates of the Hèrè Jè Training Center in Mali, West Africa.

Love and lattes added to comics

Starting today, the Sunday cartoon strip, “It’s All About You,” allows Herald readers to join Michael and his girlfriend, Gina, as they work through the hang-ups that make their relationship interesting. The couple often gets help from Chris, a barista and amateur therapist at their favorite cafe, along with a crowd of equally self-involved customers.

This slice of young adult life replaces “Opus,” a strip that ended last week after its creator decided to leave the newspaper cartooning business.
