EVERETT — The police shooting of a man in Everett early Saturday morning remains under investigation.

The shooting occurred at 1:44 a.m. Saturday when Everett Police Department officers responded to a 911 call in the 2400* block of 23rd Street about a possible burglary in progress. Neighbors said a man had been breaking windows and was breaking down the front door of the residence.

Detectives recovered a shotgun found near the body of the unidentified man who was shot and killed during the confrontation with police.

The three officers who were involved in the shooting arrived at the house and ordered the man standing in the doorway to put the weapon down, but the man refused to do so. The officers then opened fire, firing multiple shots at the man, said Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

None of the officers was injured. The unidentified man was declared dead at the scene.

According to Hover, no one was in the residence at the time of the shooting.

The Everett police officers who were involved in the shooting are currently on paid administrative leave.
