Red Cross helps family after fire
American Red Cross disaster relief workers from the Snohomish County Chapter responded to a Wednesday mobile home fire in Everett.
Victims were given temporary lodging, food, clothing and assistance in procuring medications lost in the fire.
The Red Cross will monitor the family for any additional immediate emergency needs.
All Red Cross disaster relief assistance is free, courtesy of financial support received from generous Snohomish County donors.
Donations to the Red Cross for victims of this fire and future Snohomish County disasters can be mailed to the chapter, 2530 Lombard Ave., Everett, WA 98201, or made online at www.snohomishcounty.redcross.org.
Highway 527 lane closures in Bothell
Tree removal along the Bothell-Everett Highway is prompting intermittent lane closures on Highway 527 near 240th Street SE today, according to the city of Bothell.
Expect delays for up to 10 minutes, every 20 minutes or so.
Take alternate routes if possible.
Feral cat project needs donations
A project to spay and neuter feral cats in Darrington needs help.
Homeowners and business owners with feral cat problems can contact Leslie Boyd by leaving a message at Town Hall. She offers help in trapping cats, getting them spayed or neutered, and then releasing them.
Boyd’s project also needs volunteer help and donations of blankets, cat carriers, towels and cash.

Deadline near for adult scholarships
Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation is accepting applications for community scholarships for adults. The deadline is Friday.
The scholarships are available for adults to help pay for college, workshops or other educational courses.
Those eligible must be age 21 or older and be current Stanwood or Camano Island residents or graduates from either Stanwood or Lincoln Hill high schools.
