Lake Stevens
Panel to vote on waterway buffers
The Lake Stevens Planning Commission is scheduled today to vote on changes to the city’s rules for building near wetlands and streams.
The meeting is 7 p.m. at the Community-Senior Center, 1808 Main St.
Overall, the proposed rules increase no-build zones around city waterways, but with flexibility built in for using environmentally friendly development methods. The commission’s recommendation will be sent to the City Council for a final decision.

Mill Creek
City annexes two neighborhoods
A pair of neighborhoods on the east side of Mill Creek were recently annexed by the city.
The Stonehedge and Webster’s Pond neighborhoods, which include 277 homes, became part of Mill Creek on a 4-3 vote by the City Council.
The area that was annexed is on the west side of Seattle Hill Road, east of 35th Avenue SE and south of Thomas Lake. Houses in the two neighborhoods are worth at least $500,000 and have Snohomish addresses.
People in the two neighborhoods petitioned to be brought inside city limits.
