Tuesday Willingham conference postponed
Published 12:20 pm Tuesday, December 4, 2007
Hi all. Got back from Hawaii this morning, and in case you haven’t heard already, Tyrone Willingham’s end of the year press conference has been postponed. According to a school official I talked to last night, Willingham was just too busy today with, among other things, recruiting work. Of course, there is a lot that could be read into this. Is the school postponing this while Willingham’s future is decided? We don’t know that yet, and I don’t want to jump to any conclusions.
One thing worth noting is that the press conference was never really set, so it’s probably a little unfair to make a huge deal out of it not happening today. We were told it likely would, and the norm is for it to happen the Monday after the season ended (the team was still in Hawaii on Monday, so today is the earliest it could have happened), but there was no set date and time that is now being canceled.
Some other notes:
Word from Terra Haute is that Washington running backs coach Trent Miles is going to be named the head coach at Indiana State today. He’s from Terra Haute and played receiver for Indian State. He also spent a year there as a graduate assistant.
Also, this is day-old news and you probably know it by now, but thanks to my travel home I didn’t get word until this morning, Jake Locker was named the Pac-10 freshman of the year. He was one of five Huskies to receive Pac-10 honors. Louis Rankin and Juan Garcia were named to the second team, while Locker, Anthony Russo and Jordan Reffett were all honorable mention selections. You can see the entire team here.
