United Way needs ideas for projects

Need volunteers? United Way’s Day of Caring needs projects.

Nonprofit organizations can submit their projects now for United Way’s annual Day of Caring, the largest volunteer event in the county.

This year, the Day of Caring is expanding to two days, Sept. 28 and 29, to complete more projects. The addition of a Saturday also allows more volunteers and families to participate, organizers said.

Nonprofit organizations, community and government organizations, neighborhood associations and schools are welcome to post projects now through July 31 at www.uwsc.org.

Any nonprofit organization may register a project.

From July 16 through Aug. 13, volunteers and company teams may select Day of Caring projects to work on.

Last year, more than 1,000 volunteers took to the streets to paint, plant, build and complete hands-on volunteer projects that were valued at more than $120,000.
