Tight First Half

The teams are in the locker room with Washington leading 34-32. Neither team has led by more than five points, with the Huskies leading nearly the entire game so far, Stanford briefly holding one-point leads.

The teams are shooting almost the exact same percentage, with the UW at 48.1 percent (13-for-27) and Stanford at 50 percent (13-for-26). Jon Brockman, once again, is really keeping the Huskies in it, scoring 11 points and grabbing five rebounds. He’s 5-for-8 from the foul line, though he air balled one of the misses. Quincy Pondexter is playing a spirited game against his former prep teammates the Lopez twins, scoring eight points and grabbing three rebounds. Spencer Hawes, starting for the first time in a month, has six points and three rebounds but continues to get the ball so far away from the basket that it negates his size. He doesn’t seem to be really working to get down the court and establish position on offense. Justin Dentmon missed most of the first half with foul trouble and wasn’t very good while he was in anyway. Brandon Burmeister got a lot of minutes off the bench and was solid with five points.

Stanford has turned the ball over nine times but is staying in it with 3-point shooting. Lawrence Hill is having a big day for the Cardinal with 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting. Brook Lopez spent a lot of time on the bench with foul trouble and has four points and four rebounds. Robin Lopez had four points and two rebounds.

The Huskies need to play better defense, closing down on shooters better, and need to get some production from Dentmon, Hawes and Adrian Oliver, and Ryan Appleby has to get going from outside (he has no 3-pointers).
