Pretty Impressive

Quite a first half by Washington, which leads 50-36. I don’t think anyone expected the Huskies to have this kind of offensive success. LSU is only giving up 57 points a game and is holding opponents to about 35 percent shooting, yet Washington is shooting 52.8 percent and is getting production from every spot.
In particular, Spencer Hawes and Jon Brockman have been outstanding. Both have 14 points and 7 rebounds, with Hawes going 6-for-8 and Brockman 6-for-10. Both are also doing a great job defensively on Glen Davis, who is 1-for-6 for four points. LSU did get some production from its shooters late in the half, but so has Washington, which is 5-for-8 on 3-pointers. Phil Nelson hit two big threes early and Brandon Burmeister hit a big one late in the half. Washington is also outrebounding LSU 20-14, pretty impressive as the Tigers are outrebounding foes by nine a game.
The atmosphere has been good, very loud. Of course, it helps that Washington has been up big. The key in the second half is for the Huskies to stay out of foul trouble and not get complacent.
