Spartans to Split QBs

Today’s story from the San Jose Mercury News says that junior Adam Tafralis will start at quarterback for the Spartans against the Huskies Saturday, but that junior college transfer Sean Flynn will also play. It sounds like coach Dick Tomey is using the non-conference schedule as an audition for both players before he picks one as the starter for the WAC season, which starts Oct. 14.
Tafralis is no stranger to quarterback competitions. He was replaced last year because of inconsistency and has had to fight off battles for the job before.
Talking to UW defensive coordinator Kent Baer, it doesn’t sound like there’s a huge amount of difference between the two quarterbacks, except that Flynn is two inches taller at 6-4 and is left handed.
