Former Silvertips F Byron Froese debuts for Toronto

It turned out to be a pretty good Saturday for at least two former Everett Silvertips players.

Former Silvertips forward Byron Froese made his NHL debut Saturday for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Froese, 24, played 142 games for Everett from 2008-10 and recorded 118 points in his Tips career before he was traded to Red Deer in July 2010.

Froese becomes the 14th former Silvertip to play in the NHL. He spent considerable time in the ECHL and AHL prior to earning his first NHL appearance with Toronto.

Former Everett defenseman Ryan Murray helped the Columbus Blue Jackets end their awful start to the season with a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win at Colorado.
