Front Porch: Mill Creek prepares for disaster

The city of Mill Creek is hosting a meeting to help residents map their neighborhoods in case of an emergency at 6:30 on Tuesday at City Hall.
Anyone can attend a 90 minute workshop that will cover the first nine steps to take immediately
after a disaster and how to work with neighbors to identify supplies and safety concerns.

Snohomish seeks volunteers: The city of Snohomish is looking for volunteers to serve on its Public Safety Commission through April 2016. Applications are due to City Hall by 4 p.m. on Monday.
The commission reviews law enforcement and emergency response priorities. Commissioners should be Snohomish residents or local business owners.

Sky Valley Community Schools seeks teachers: The Monroe School District is looking for people who want to share their interests and skills by teaching a class. The upcoming Sky Valley Community Schools session begins in late October. Anyone interested should apply by Oct. 5.
The registration fee for classes varies based on type, length and size of the class. Most instructors receive 60 percent of the fee.
