Learn: All things about the Salish Sea
WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers offers Sound Living, a community day of learning about the connections between the water, land and people of the Salish Sea, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 31 at Mukilteo Presbyterian Church, 4514 84th St. SW.
Scott Redman of the Puget Sound Partnership gives the keynote on “Puget Sound’s Vital Signs.” Other lectures discuss orcas, rivers and streams, beached birds, restoration and more.
Registration is $15 per person, online at www.wsusoundliving.org. Lunch is available for purchase, or bring your own.

Teach: Share your interests and skills
Sky Valley Community Schools, sponsored by the Monroe School District, seeks local residents to share their interests and skills with others in the community. You don’t have to be a certificated teacher or have lots of experience. The Ken Baxter Community Center, operated by Marysville Parks and Recreation, also seeks independent contract-pay instructors to teach classes this winter. Proposed subjects include art, crafts, education, workshops, business, trade, fitness or other talents. The deadline for proposals is 5 p.m. Oct. 9.

Train: Help victims of domestic violence
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County offers its next six-week community education and volunteer training class, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 19-Nov. 16, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 7, in downtown Everett.
Classes are free for volunteers willing to commit 10 hours of time within a six-month period for the nonprofit. Topics give an overview of domestic violence and related issues. Light snacks and break time provided.

Apply: Teen needed for Sister City group
The Edmonds Sister City Commission is taking applications for a student representative. The applicant must be a resident of Edmonds and have a strong interest in Japan. Duties include attending meetings on the fourth Monday evening of the month and assisting with events and special projects. The term runs all school year. The deadline to apply is Oct. 31.

Eat: Lobsta at Camano Center
The Camano Center’s Lobsta Mania event is set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Tickets are $25 and include a whole Maine lobster, side dishes and live entertainment with Derek Fekkes.
