Meet the police chief

Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman will meet the public from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept 21 at the Everett Public Library’s main branch, 2702 Hoyt Avenue. The event is designed as an open forum for people and police to talk.

Oso salmon bake: The Oso Firemens’ Association hosts its annual Salmon Bake and Auction from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Oso Firehall, 21824 Highway 530 NE, Arlington. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 children. Dinner includes salmon, potato salad, dessert and drinks. After dinner, there will be an auction of local donations, including firewood, trees and wild-blackberry pies. More information is available at osofire.com or call 360-435-2672.

Get rid of meds in Island County: People who live in Island County can participate in a drug take-back day from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Sept. 26. The locations are the sheriff’s office at 5521 E. Harbor Road, Freeland, Coupeville City Hall on NE Seventh Street, and the Oak Harbor Police Department at 860 SE Barrington Drive.

Touch a truck: The City of Marysville plans a free Touch a Truck event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Asbery Field, 1605 7th St. NE. Horns and sirens will go off during the first two hours. Children will be allowed to climb on heavy-duty rigs, including a dump truck and police and fire vehicles. No pets please. Donations will be accepted for the local food bank.
