The Stanwood Police Department plans an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 28. The police station recently was remodeled. Refreshments will be served. Stanwood police are part of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. For more information, go to the “Stanwood Police Department” page on Facebook.
Mukilteo budget: A Town Hall budget meeting to discuss Mukilteo’s 2016 spending plan is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 in the City Council chambers, at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. The budget will be presented to the City Council on Oct. 30. Mayor Jennifer Gregerson is scheduled to present a budget message to the City Council at its Nov. 2 meeting.
Food Day at Fryelands: People are celebrating food from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Fryelands Elementary School, 5286 Fryelands Boulevard in Monroe,
Everyone is welcome to taste food and talk with local farmers and staff from Chartwells, the company that provides meals for Monroe Public Schools. Monroe-area organic farms — Willie Greens, Skipley Farm and Oxbow Farm — are lined up to show their wares and share information. There will be a surprise guest chef cooking and hands-on food art contests.
Free business seminar: Business owners and anyone looking to start a business can get some free guidance with two presentations from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Arlington City Council chambers, 110 Third St.
Registration is open now at nwirc.com/events. Local entrepreneur Lara Merriam-Smith, is scheduled to talk about launching a business, and Travis Snider Everett Community College plans to discuss growing a small business.
