Levy failure brings big disappointment

As both a parent and a staff member in the Snohomish School District, I am disappointed I live in a community where 44 percent of the people who voted on April 24 do not want to improve our educational facilities and classroom technology. I am embarrassed I live in a community where almost 19,000 of 27,000 registered voters didn’t even bother to vote on a critical school district ballot. I am sorry I live in a school district where residents are so negative that they are willing to pay for a newspaper insert urging a “no” vote on a bond issue that would have benefited our school district, teachers, and students.

I am ashamed I live in a district where one of the school board members contributed to the defeat of the bond by voting against it when it was presented to the school board for approval. Our kids deserve better than this.
