Edmonds Historical Museum’s current show is “Once Upon a Toy,” featuring toys from yesteryear.

Edmonds holiday market: The Edmonds downtown holiday market is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Dec. 17 near City Hall. Included is musical entertainment and a Santa photo booth. The tree-lighting event is Nov. 26 in the same location on Fifth Avenue across from the Edmonds Historical Museum.

Antique toy exhibit: Edmonds Historical Museum, 118 Fifth Ave. N; hours 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, earlier on market days; www.historicedmonds.org. “Once Upon a Toy” exhibit features toys that might have appeared under Christmas trees during the past century. Bring a donation to Clothes for Kids.

Model trains: The Swamp Creek & Western Railroad Association’s annual holiday open house is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in the former baggage room of the Edmonds train station, 210 Railroad St., Edmonds. Model trains are a traditional, enduring fixture of the season. The layout features 400 feet of HO scale track. the train passes through miniature towns and detailed scenery. Guardians must maintain a presence while their children visit. The railroad association formed in the mid-1970s shortly before moving into the south end of the Amtrak depot. Admission is free.

Mountlake Terrace Tree Lighting Ceremony: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2, Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave. W. Music, Santa and treats.

Mill Creek Santa Parade: The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the north end of Town Center. Tree lighting follows at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Arlington’s Hometown Holiday Winter Wonderland: Donate to the food bank when Santa makes the rounds with the fire department, Dec. 2-11. Santa Parade is at noon Dec. 3 on Olympic Avenue. Tree lighting at 12:30 at Legion Park. Free visits with Santa, rides and more, www.arlingtonwa.gov.

Arlington Nativity Festival: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Smokey Point offers its fifth annual festival, with nativity scenes from all over the world. See the displays 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8-9, noon to 9 p.m Dec. 10 and 3 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 at 17222 43rd Ave. NE, Arlington. Music is include at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11.

Stories on stage: Performed by touring children’s theater companies, Village Theatre’s Pied Piper series features Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon and Runaway Rabbit at 2 p.m. Dec. 3, Everett Performing Arts Center; Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, 2 p.m.Feb. 19, Everett Civic Auditorium; SkippyJon Jones at 2 p.m. April 15, Everett Performing Arts Center; and Junie B. Sherlock Holmes: The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes is at the Pacific Science Center at the Seattle Center. The exhibit, which runs through Jan. 8, combines science with history and culture to bring to life the underpinnings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories. More at www.pacificsciencecenter.org. Steam Punk Fashion Show is 4:30 Nov. 20.

Woodland Park Zoo: Fall and winter hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. For more information www.zoo.org or 206-548-2500. Also, the zoo’s WildLights are on 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 25 to Jan. 1. Admission is $9.95 for teens and adults, $7.95 for children and free for toddlers. Enter the zoo through the west entrance at Phinney Avenue N. between N. 55th and 56th streets. Parking is $6.

The interactive exhibit allows visitors to explore how color has influenced Coast Salish people and how it is used today.

Imagine Children’s Museum: 1502 Wall St., Everett. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
