Salary review commission

The city of Arlington is looking for volunteers to serve on its salary review commission. The commission was created in 2015 to get public feedback on the salaries of the city’s elected leaders. The group meets every two years to review the salaries and reimbursements for the mayor and City Council. Applications are available at arlingtonwa.gov by clicking on “Boards &Commissions” under the “Government” tab. Applicants also can contact Kristin Banfield at 360-403-3444 or kbanfield@arlingtonwa.gov.

Meet social workers: The Everett Police Department plans a public meet-and-greet with its embedded social workers from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Everett Public Library’s auditorium. Police and social workers will talk about their work. The event is informational, and not a time to sign up for social services.

Change fishing plans: The state has announced closures of parts of the Skykomish and Wallace rivers to fishing through Feb. 15. The return rates of winter steelhead to area hatcheries are too low. The closure is on the Wallace River from the railroad trestle to 200 feet upstream of the hatchery. The closure on the Skykomish River is from 1,500 feet upstream to 1,000 feet downstream of Reiter Ponds.
