EVERETT — Arcan Cetin, the suspect in the 2016 Cascade Mall shooting in Burlington, hanged himself, officials have confirmed.

His death Sunday in the Snohomish County Jail was ruled a suicide, the county Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday.

Cetin, 20, was being held in Everett while awaiting trial in Skagit County on multiple aggravated-murder charges. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation, which is standard procedure after a death in the jail.

The sheriff’s office Wednesday declined to provide additional details about the investigation.

Cetin was moved here last month at the request of his attorneys. He was accused of shooting and killing five people.
