GRANITE FALLS — A 15-year-old boy hurt while hiking Monday was flown by Snohomish County Search and Rescue helicopter to Granite Falls.
The teen was hiking with his father on the Robe Valley Trail when the edge of the trail gave way and the boy fell about 40 feet, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. They were about 1.5 miles from the trailhead.
Firefighters and search-and-rescue crews decided it was best for everyone to call for the helicopter to bring the boy out with the hoist, Hover said. The boy might have had a broken leg, she said.
He was taken to the Granite Falls area where he was met by medics and his father.
