Front Porch: Support for families living with mental illness

A series of six weekly classes to help family members and friends of children who are living with a mental illness is being offered by the Snohomish County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness beginning on Sept. 29.
The classes are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Everett.
The free course is taught by a team of trained NAMI volunteers who know what it’s like to have a loved one with major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, panic and obsessive compulsive disorders, and brain and addictive problems.
Registration is required. Classes are limited to 25 people.

Meeting on local economy
The Darrington Area Business Association members invite folks to attend their meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cascade Senior Center, 1115 Darrington St.
The association seeks to build Darrington’s economy.

Grad breakfast
A Granite Falls Alumni Annual Breakfast is set during the city’s Railroad Days Celebration on Oct. 1.
The breakfast costs $10 and will be served at 9 a.m. at the Father’s House, 402 S. Granite Ave. Coffee hour is scheduled from 7 to 9 a.m. A membership meeting is planned at 10 a.m.
Alumni membership is open to present and former students, teachers and staff who attended or worked at any Granite Falls school.
