Stamp act

Wait a minute, Mr. Postman: Desperate to increase sagging revenue, the U.S. Postal Service is ending the policy that bars the living from being honored with a postage stamp. The postmaster general said it would allow the tribute to be paid to individuals while they are still alive.

If the goal is to honor someone before they go, maybe the first such stamp should be for U.S. Postal Service employees.

Don’t mess with Texas’ mess: Texas Gov. Rick Perry, R-No Mas Debate, has asked President Barack Obama, D-Pass This Jobs Bill, to halt implementation of stricter air pollution standards because they would have a devastating effect on the state’s economy.

And the air pollution controls are now unnecessary as every Texan has been issued a full-face respirator.

All in favor of it being a good thing, say aye: Martha Stewart has rejoined the board of directors of her namesake Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Stewart, convicted of insider trading in 2004, had to wait five years before she was eligible to return to the board.

To celebrate, Stewart used the three hours before her first meeting to upholster the boardroom chairs in ostrich leather, can pints of gooseberry preserves for her fellow board members and print the annual report on homemade paper, bind it to match the chairs and tie it with a raffia bow.
