Sounders’ Fredy Montero MLS player of the week

SEATTLE — Seattle Sounders forward Fredy Montero was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week.

Montero scored two goals to help Seattle came from behind twice to beat the Portland Timbers 3-2 on Sunday.

Montero also won MLS player of the week awards in 2009 and 2010.

Seattle defender Jeff Parke won the award earlier this season.

The player of the week is selected by the North American Soccer Reporters.
