We can’t currently afford recreation

Published 12:01 am Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Regarding the June 6 article, “$748,000 will help build Reiter trails and hire warden“: When I read the article, I couldn’t help wondering about the money that will be spent on “Reiter trails.” I enjoy the outdoors and have been to Reiter Road. It is a nice area, but I think something is being overlooked.

Our state and our people are in a recession. The state, counties and cities all cut back on programs that help our people in various ways, as in health, unemployment and education.

Why is money being spent on recreation instead of necessities for people? It may be from a different budget, but it’s the same state.
