50 years ago (1961)
Everett High School’s golf team happily held awards and trophies that went to the champions of the Annual State Prep Golf Invitational. Coached by Bill Gowen, members were captain Joey Richer, Bob Wallace, Bill Meyer and Darrell Storkson.
Memories were going by the boards at Silver Lake where buildings and structures of the former North Pacific Fair were being torn down. Owned by the Walton Estate, it was expected the land would be used for a shopping center and home sites. Some would go to the new freeway. Larry Masterton had the contract to clear the site. Alex Wyman and Roy Nelson were busy with the razing.
25 years ago (1986)
Betty Spooner was presenting “Other Waltzes,” “Hansel & Gretel” and “One More Song, One More Dance” at the Civic Auditorium. Tickets were $5 and available at Carousel Music/Ticketmaster. There was one performance only, on May 31.
Schuck’s Auto Supply had opened a new store at 19579 U.S. 2 in Monroe. Jerry Stramek Jr., previously assistant manager at the corporation’s Bellevue Way store, was appointed manager of the new store. There were now 72 stores operating in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
