Recipes in The Herald a little too rich for reader’s taste

As a long time subscriber to The Herald, I feel the need to express my disappointment in the Food section. I truly miss the “folksy” approach formerly represented by the likes of columnist Judyrae Kruse. While I understand that many people today have increasingly sophisticated palates, I question whether the average home cook is being served (no pun intended) by the sort of recipes the Aug. 9 paper.
Halibut (at $24.99/lb.) tacos? And a tomato dish which calls for umeboshi paste and furikake?
Please give me something I’d be tempted to make.
