MONROE — A 20-year-old Kent man was arrested Friday by Monroe police and U.S. Marshals in connection with a November rape investigation.

On Nov. 22, the man allegedly offered a woman a ride home from a Kirkland bar but instead told her they were going “somewhere else,” according to a police affidavit filed Monday in Everett District Court.

He wore gloves and hit the woman before sexually assaulting her, police said. The woman was afraid to have the man take her home and he took her to a Monroe motel instead.

The next week, the woman called the man to obtain his phone number for police. The man reportedly said, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll kidnap you again?”

The man allegedly admitted having sex with the woman and believed she wanted to have sex, according to police.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping. He was ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bail. Federal immigration officials also placed a hold on the man.
