Music at the Library
The Edmonds Library’s free “Music at the Library” series starts Thursday with The Seattle Jazz Singers. The hour-long performance begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Plaza Room, upstairs at the Library at 650 Main St. The music series continues Nov. 16 with flutist and storyteller Gary Stroutsos.

The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County is moderating a forum for candidates for the Edmonds City Council and the Port of Edmonds, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Gateway Hall 532 at Edmonds Community College, 20310 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.

Japanese ghost stories
Everett Community College’s Japanese Club celebrates Halloween with a Haunted Tea House on Friday at EvCC’s Henry M. Jackson Conference Center, 2000 Tower St. From noon to 3 p.m., kids can make a trickster fox paper mask or a fair-weather charm called a teru-teru bozu. Hear some Japanese ghost stories, too. Then, from 5 to 9 p.m., teens and others can hear more spine-tingling stories.
Admission (cash or check) is a suggested $5 donation, or free with a nonperishable food donation for the EvCC Food Pantry.

Help for parents
Free classes begin Monday for parents and caregivers of youth living with mental illness. Become your child’s best advocate. The certified teachers are volunteer parents who have been in your shoes.
Classes are held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Nov. 27 at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. Registration is required.
