Snohomish man’s legacy
The life and legacy of William Shelton, the last hereditary leader of the Snohomish people, will be the topic of the next History & Hors d’oeuvres at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27130 102nd Ave. NW, in Stanwood.
Hibulb Cultural Center’s Tessa Campbell will present the story of this important figure in the history of her people and explain the significance of the vast collections he and his family left.
The event is free to the public although donations are welcome and encouraged.

Discuss aging and mental health
Sno-Isle Libraries continues its “Issues That Matter” series with a talk about “Aging and Mental Health,” 10 a.m. Monday at the Sky Valley Senior Center, 617 First St., Sultan. Homage Senior Services mental health outreach specialist Carol Teichgrab presents.

Sultan Thanksgiving dinner
Sultan Harvest, a free, volunteer-driven Thanksgiving dinner that welcomes all who wish to attend, is set for noon to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving day, Nov. 23, in the commons at Sultan High School, 13715 310th Ave. SE. Known as the event where “no one eats alone,” this event is put on by the Sultan Harvest Committee in partnership with the Volunteers of America Sky Valley Services Center.
Donations of food, cash, supplies, coats, hats and blankets can be dropped off at the Sultan Visitor Information Center, 320 Main St., or the VOA, 701 First St. Donations to Sultan Harvest via the VOA are tax-deductible. Volunteers also welcome.

Festival of Trees next week
Cascade Valley Health Foundation holds its annual Festival of Trees, 6 p.m. Nov. 24 at the Gleneagle Golf Course clubhouse, 7619 East Country Club Drive, Arlington. Tickets are $20 at the door. Decorated trees will be auctioned off, as well as baskets, wreaths and glass ornaments.

Apply for Lynnwood Citizens Academy
Registration is open for the Lynnwood Police Department’s 2018 Citizens Academy, a free class series that offers an inside view of local law enforcement. Classes will be held 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays starting Jan. 11 at the Lynnwood Senior Center, 19000 44th Ave. W.
The academy is aimed at those interested in criminal justice, current trends in criminal activity, personal safety, crime prevention and volunteering with the Lynnwood Police Department.
Space is limited. A limited amount of seating will be awarded to high school seniors.
