Chehalis man charged with raping woman in sleep

CENTRALIA — Lewis County prosecutors have charged a Chehalis man for raping a woman while she slept and recording it on his cellphone.
The Chronicle of Centralia said 31-year-old Brandon Phelps pleaded not guilty to four counts of second-degree rape at a court hearing Thursday. He is being held in Lewis County Jail.
Phelps was already in jail awaiting trial on a separate child molestation charge. In that case, he’s accused of having sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl in 2009.
Court documents show authorities got a tip about child pornography that lead them to Phelps’s home. They obtained a search warrant for the home and recovered multiple electronic devices. Four videos recovered from his cellphone show him raping a woman in her sleep.
