Prep playoff roundup: Arlington baseball wins 19th straight game

ARLINGTON — Michael Tsoukalas hit a three-run double in the third inning, and Owen Bishop delivered five scoreless innings on the mound to lead the Arlington baseball team to its 19th straight win Saturday, 4-2 over visiting Lynnwood in a 3A Northwest District Tournament game.

Gavin Rork came up with a big defensive play for the Eagles (20-1) in the top of the fourth inning, making a diving catch deep in right-center field to prevent a run.

Gabe Newson led the Royals (8-14) offensively, driving in a run while going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Mount Vernon 3, Monroe 1

MOUNT VERNON — Riley Olmstead tossed a complete game, allowing one run, and drove in a run to help Mount Vernon defeat visiting Monroe in a 4A District 1 tournament loser-out game.

Dylan Cyr and Swen Larsen each knocked in a run for the Bulldogs (14-7).

Olmstead took a shutout into the seventh inning before the Bearcats (10-11) got on the board thanks to a solo home run from Ryan Witt.

In 3A Northwest District tournament action, Edmonds-Woodway beat visiting Snohomish 10-7, Marysville Pilchuck defeated visiting Shorewood 9-0 and Meadowdale knocked off Stanwood 6-0 at Mountlake Terrace High School.

MARYSVILLE — Eric Villasenor found the back of the net in the second half off an assist from Diego Aragon for the game’s only score, and William Juarez recorded a shutout in goal as visiting Lynnwood defeated Wesco 3A champion Marysville Pilchuck in the first round of the District 1 3A tournament.

Shorecrest 3, Shorewood 1

SHORELINE — Ricardo Ruiz scored a pair of goals and Elliot Misic added another as the Scots (11-6-0) picked up a victory over rival Shorewood (8-3-6) in the first round of the District 1 3A tounament.

In 3A Northwest District tournament action, Squalicum defeated visiting Edmonds-Woodway 3-0 and Snohomish knocked off visiting Meadowdale 3-1.
