Bridge to the waterfront: A good idea, then and now

The raising of the new bridge connecting Grand Ave. to the waterfront drew hundreds to the balcony seats to watch the action. Herald reporter Lizz Giordano spent many a morning, afternoon and evening at the site, several of our photographers did the same, and Herald columnist Julie Muhlstein talked to many of the folks who came out and recalled how people managed back in the days of yore.
