Mudslide briefly closes Lowell Larimer Road near Snohomish

SNOHOMISH — A mudslide briefly shut down Lowell Larimer Road south of Snohomish on Friday afternoon, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Barbara Carlson, who lives on a farm about a quarter-mile away, said the slide appeared to come from a construction site near the 6700 block of East Lowell Larimer, south of Seattle Hill Road.

Construction workers were building a 63-unit housing project approved earlier this year called Remington Ranch. Carlson said she had some concerns that mud slides coming from the development could become a repeat occurrence, as the fall and winter bring more rainstorms. She said recently muddy water has been running through nearby ditches where once the water was clear.

No injuries were reported in the slide.

Crews with Snohomish County cleaned up the road within hours.
