Fire in north Marysville displaces 8, kills at least 3 pets

MARYSVILLE — Eight people escaped uninjured from a Marysville house fire early Thursday, according to the Marysville Fire District. The home was a total loss.

Two dogs and one cat died in the fire, and another dog and two more cats are unaccounted for, fire district spokesperson Christie Veley said.

Just before 5 a.m., someone who lived in the single-story house near 51st Avenue NE in north Marysville noticed the power had gone out. Soon after there were flames. Everyone in the house was an adult and related to one another, Veley said.

Firefighters arrived and the flames were extinguished by 5:23 a.m., Veley said. No other homes were damaged.

The local chapter of the Red Cross has been contacted to help the family. Cost of the damage is estimated at $450,000, Veley said. Cause of the fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
