Everett man, killed while crossing a street, is identified

EVERETT — A pedestrian killed while crossing an Everett street last week was identified Monday.

Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Charles Willey, 76, was crossing Everett Avenue near the intersection with Rainier Avenue when a westbound vehicle struck him, Everett police Lt. Robert Goetz said.

The Everett man died at the scene of blunt-force injuries, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined.

No arrests were expected, Goetz said. He noted there was no indication of reckless driving or any drug or alcohol use by the driver, who was cooperative with police.

In 2020, a pedestrian died near the same intersection, according to data from the state Department of Transportation. And in 2021, another was seriously hurt nearby.
