It’s Election Day: Here’s what to do to get your vote counted

EVERETT — Election Day is here. If you want to participate, here’s what you need to do.

You can put your ballot in any of the county’s 35 designated drop boxes. That’s the best option.

They can be returned by mail without a stamp. However, before dropping it in a mail box, check the time for the last pick-up. Ballot-return envelopes must be postmarked Tuesday to be counted.

At stake in Snohomish County are seats in Congress and the Legislature, plus funding for Monroe schools and roads in Stanwood and Lake Stevens.

Not registered? No problem. Under Washington’s same-day registration law, a person can go into the Snohomish County Auditor’s office until 8 p.m. to register and vote.

Or you can do so at one of the satellite voting sites operated by the county.

They are at the Alderwood Water and Wastewater District, 3626 156th St. SW in Lynnwood; the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 16710 Smokey Point Blvd. in Arlington; and the Snohomish County Public Meeting Room in the county administration building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett. These will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition, accessible voting equipment for voters with disabilities will be available at the county auditor’s office, 3000 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett.

You don’t need a traditional address to vote. You can register using a shelter, park, motorhome, marina or other identifiable location you consider your residence. This location will be used to determine which precinct you will vote in.
