Alex Lim to speak at Snohomish Garden Club meeting

The Snohomish Garden Club’s next general meeting — at 7:30 p.m. May 8 at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 4th St. in Snohomish — will feature Alex Lim, sole proprietor of The Lim Garden, a private 1-acre plant haven and micro-nursery in Woodinville.

Lim is a passionate newbie, having started the garden from scratch in 2017 with no prior experience. What began as a personal project quickly snowballed into a full-time commitment and officially a new occupation in 2022. It’s been a busy six years, filled with triumphs and failures, experiments and lessons. The nursery’s sales support garden development and, moving forward, will offer more uncommon, wild seed-grown collections and specialized plant-breeding.

The meeting is free to members and $15 for non-members. For more information, go to https://snohomishgardenclub.com/.

Learn about dahlias at Monroe Garden Club meeting

At the Monroe Garden Club’s next general meeting — at 1 p.m. May 8 at the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway in Monroe — members Kris Elledge Harvey Tatel will explain the fundamentals of growing and caring for dahlias.

Guests are invited to come early and bring a lunch or purchase lunch at the center. Suggested donation is $4. If you plan to buy lunch, please call ahead at 360-794-6359. For more information, go to www.monroegardenlub.net.

Everett Garden Club’s annual plant sale set

The Everett Garden Club’s annual fundraiser plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. until all is sold May 13 at 52nd Street SE and Evergreen Way.

Club members grow vegetable and flower starts and contribute many unusual plants from their yards. The sale also includes pots and planters full of gorgeous flowers at reasonable prices because they are donated by area nurseries.

Proceeds support the club’s activities for the year, which include donations to schools for their gardening projects as well as other horticultural programs in Everett.

Edmonds in Bloom to host Kids Plant event

Edmonds in Bloom, a nonprofit, will host its annual Kids Plant event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13 at the Edmonds Museum Summer Market.

The event provides kids an opportunity to create a floral design in a beach pail as a gift to give to a loved one. Volunteers will assist kids as they select their pails, apply stickers and select their flowers for planting.

The Kids Plant booth will be in the center of the market on Bell Street and 5th Avenue N. To help offset the cost of materials, a cash donation of $10 is appreciated.
