Lake Stevens High School graduate Jacob Eason is back in the NFL, as he was signed to the New York Giants’ practice squad Tuesday.

Eason, a fourth-year quarterback, hadn’t been with an NFL team since May, when he was waived by the Carolina Panthers. He worked out for the Giants during the offseason, but wasn’t signed.

However, the Giants have an injury crisis at quarterback after starter Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during Sunday’s 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Backup Tyrod Taylor was already on injured reserve with a rib injury. New York’s two quarterbacks on the active roster are Tommy DeVito, who came in for Jones on Sunday, and Matt Barkley, who was just signed from the practice squad.

Eason has appeared in two games during his NFL career, one with Indianapolis in 2021 and one with Carolina in 2022. He’s 5-for-10 for 84 yards with two interceptions.
